A gadget exists to be recharged. If it pleases you, then you will keep recharging it. If it doesn’t, then you’ll let it rot away in your drawer. This isn’t good for anyone. So try to buy gadgets that you’ll love, and want to recharge! Don’t let yourself be taken in by flat battery fodder. Or as we like to call it, Batflattery.

The exciting news for today is Apple’s iCloud. It’s long become obvious that keeping all your iDevices synced with your Mac or PC was becoming a major pain. Now Apple have said that the PC is being demoted to being just another device. Instead of it being the centre of your digital hub, that role is now played by the Cloud. Each device sends new content (photos, music, documents etc) up to the cloud, and the cloud then sends it back down to the other devices. As Steve said yesterday, “the truth is on the Cloud”.

So when iCloud rolls out in the autumn, you won’t have to worry about syncing the pictures you just took on your iPhone back to your Mac, so you can copy them to your iPad or show them on your Apple TV... it’s all done for you, in the background. By the time you get home, it’s all done for you, over the air.

So all you’ll need to do is keep them charged... as it should be.
